Take a Step of Faith
Isaiah 6 is a strange passage that details the prophet having an encounter with God in all His glory. In response to being overwhelmed by the presence of God, we see this: Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” After being in the presence of God, Isaiah’s response to the question of who will represent God is ‘Send me’.
Following Jesus often means trusting Him enough to act. Our faith is something we live out practically, it is not just an intellectual understanding.
Therefore, growing in our faith means being willing to take a step of faith. Remember, we do this in response to God’s love - not because God compells us. We do this as a result of being in God’s presence and our realisation of how good He is! As part of our response to that, as we become willing to take a step of faith we grow closer to Him and learn to trust Him more.
Here are some practical ways you can do this:
Be obedient to something God has asked you to do
A personal act of obedience
Repentance
Have courage in evangellism
Confession
We grow stronger together. With all these steps accountability in a small group helps us stay faithful, encouraged, and prayerful. We’d encourage you to do this with any of the steps outlined below.
Top Tips:
Be honest and open - don’t just share highlights.
Pray for each other regularly, not just when meeting together.

Being Obedient in Something God Has Asked You to Do
Sometimes God nudges us - through Scripture, prayer, or circumstances - to take action. Obedience is saying “yes” even when it stretches us.
Top Tips:
Pray for clarity and courage.
Start small - obedience often begins with simple steps.
Trust that God equips those He calls.
A Personal Act of Obedience
Faith is lived out in the everyday - choosing God’s way in your personal life, even when no one else sees.
Top Tips:
Identify one area where you sense God calling you to grow.
Invite the Holy Spirit to help you stay faithful.
Celebrate small victories with gratitude.
Repentance
Repentance is turning away from sin and turning back to God. It’s not shame-driven, but grace-filled.
Top Tips:
Be honest with God - He already knows and still loves you.
Pray Psalm 51 as a guide.
Receive His forgiveness and walk in freedom.
Courage in Evangelism
Sharing the good news of Jesus takes boldness and love. It’s a step of faith to speak, trusting God with the results.
Top Tips:
Pray for one person you can talk to this week.
Share your story, not just theology - people connect with your journey.
Remember: it’s God who changes hearts, not us.
Confession
Confession is admitting our struggles and sins to God and, when needed, to trusted believers. It breaks the power of secrecy.
Top Tips:
Choose someone mature and trustworthy.
Be specific, not vague.
Accept God’s grace, and let others support you in walking forward.
